What a great breakfast. Stack with salmon. Absolutely delicious. There is no doubt New Zealand salmon is Devine. The coffee was also perfect. A great view with lovely friendly staff. Definitely worth a stop for a bite.

I love this cafe - I could sit for hours people watching or reading. On this occasion I wanted a non alcoholic drink. Very obligingly the staff made up one based on pineapple juice which was so refreshing.

Our first time to sumner and lucky for us we found the perfect place for lunch. A nice balcony overlooking the rugged coast line. Meals were reasonably priced and just perfect. Tasty, generous portions and appreciated by us. Neat wee menu, coffee also as good.

Great venue by Sumner beach with seating inside and out. Enjoyed wine and pizza on the deck which was perfect. The waitress was a lovely English girl who was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Both my wife and I had the “Sumner Burger” and a ginger beer here, and left very satisfied. Katherine was a nice waitress.

One of the only bars open on a Saturday night. We had a great time and the staff were fantastic. We would love to go back for dinner one night. Worth a visit.

We went there for lunch, a busy place but the food and beer was great and so was the service. We will be back to try other dishes from the menu.

Food was fresh, tasty and great sized portions. From the fish taco to the burgers to the wings everything was fantastic. Sat outside in the sun and even though an entire rugby squad was also in, the service was quick and friendly.

I’ve eaten at the Beach bar often but today I was blown away by the quality of food. I’m well traveled and have had the pleasure of enjoying excellent cuisine from around the world. Beach Bars new chef has completely elevated the taste of this restaurant to a Michelin quality, while the portions are ample enough to satisfy your hungry punter. Specifically, I was blown away by the taste sensation and variety packed seafood chowder: the caper hit was superbly prepared. The side of seasonal vegetables were a hit just by themselves with the seasoning, almonds and perfectly drizzled honey. I pared my tempura bluff oysters with Duncan’s coco husk stout & was not disappointed. Overall, I highly recommend venturing out to Sumner for a walk on the beach or paved walkway (when the tide is high) and lunch or dine here!! Beach is currently offering fresh and tempura Bluff Oysters if your lucky enough to be visiting while available.

We were visiting from Wellington and just wanted to suss out Sumner before heading home. We got to Beach reasonably early on a Saturday morning so no problems finding a seat outside in the sun. The breakfast menu is several steps above the usual fare with thoughtful additions to each dish. My Eggs Bene had paprika oil and an avocado creme which lifted it to something quite special. My daughter had the sizeable Chia pudding topped with toasted granola, berries and edible flowers. All perfectly executed. The service was friendly and efficient. The setting was gorgeous. It was a flying visit, but we will be back when we are next in Christchurch. Thanks.

Visited Beach Bar in Sumner with friends for dinner when in the area. Menu options were good. Food was fresh, good sizes and flavour. Service friendly and efficient. Overall, a good dining experience on this occasion.
